Integrative Attachment Family Therapy

Supporting families to strengthen relationships, improve understanding, and create lasting change through connection.

What Is IAFT?
Integrative Attachment Family Therapy (IAFT) is a relational model that blends attachment theory, family systems thinking, and neuroscience to help families understand and respond to emotional and behavioural challenges.
IAFT recognises that every behaviour has meaning. By exploring patterns of communication, emotional responses, and unmet needs, families learn new ways to relate to one another and build stronger, more trusting connections.
This approach places the relationship — not the behaviour — at the centre of change.

Who IAFT Is For

IAFT can support:
-
Families experiencing relational stress or communication difficulties.
-
Parents and carers raising children with attachment or trauma histories.
-
Children and young people struggling to express emotions, trust adults, or feel safe in relationships.
-
Families seeking a holistic, structured approach that integrates individual and systemic work.

What Happens in Sessions

-
Helping parents and carers to understand behaviour through an attachment and trauma lens.
-
Supporting emotional regulation and reflective functioning.
-
Strengthening empathy, trust, and connection between family members.
